When it is time for a wealthy nobleman to step down and pass on his title to the younger generation, he finds that his youngest son is dull-witted and very contemptuous of women, so he wants to pass the title on to his eldest son. Although John takes the time to “test out” every single lady, his heart is still attached to one of his father’s former wives.
