Shortly after marrying Pepe Sancho, María receives the hardest blow of her life when she loses her daughter Rocío in a traffic accident, when she was only 16 years old. A blow from which María never recovers and which makes her incapable of living alone, somehow forcing her to accept and maintain her marriage to Pepe Sancho for 22 years during which physical and psychological abuse and also infidelities become commonplace. Fed up with the situation, María ends the relationship and decides to denounce Pepe in court, which, years later, agrees with her. But time passes and life hits María again when an intestinal obstruction leads to a coma that keeps her for three months between life and death, but which, miraculously, she ends up overcoming. After her 70th birthday party, in which she also celebrated her resurrection, María receives a new blow in her life when she is diagnosed with lung cancer against which, once again, she will have to fight as she has done throughout his life.
