Renowned filmmaker William Karel recounts life in Auschwitz in 1944 through two recently discovered photo albums. One album was found by camp survivor Lili Jacob, which relates to the arrival of a convoy of Hungarian Jews in Auschwitz in May-June 1944. The pictures show the few hours preceding the murder of most of them in the gas chambers. The other album was recovered in 2007 and contains photographs, also from May 1944, that depict the moments of leisure that the SS officers responsible for Auschwitz enjoyed together in the vicinity of the camp. The original Auschwitz Album from Lili Jacob is now in Yad Vashem - The World Holocaust Remembrance Center and is freely able to be viewed at https://www.yadvashem.org/yv/en/exhibitions/album_auschwitz/index.asp - the film was screened at the Toronto Jewish Film Festival on Monday April 15, 2013.
